Ibanez Iceman ICB-300 Reviews 2

Ebay - $330.00 I purchased it because I liked its looks and because I thought it might appreciate in value. It certainly wasn't because it had a terribly good reputation for its performance. My rationale may seem off-hand to most, but I'm not exactly the best bass player.

I like its looks. It sounds OK, but to somebody who didn't grow up playing far more inferior instruments like I did, they might think otherwise. It feels solid to me, and it's not too heavy. The controls are well placed.

I don't like the shoulder strap peg placement. It makes the guitar hang funny and I'm always using my left forearm to keep it next to my body. Otherwise it tends to want to flop forward. It's kind of annoying in this regard. Also, it's a bit of a reach to the top frets - and I have long arms.

Bolt-on neck, Korean made. Large body, with a decent black finish and antique, white binding. The maple neck and head is similarly bound. The fretboard is ebony. Neck profile is very similar to that of the Ibanez BTB series.

Shopping is a bad thing. I've gone and demo'd an Ibanez SRX700 and now think that my Iceman is a dinosaur. I've let the genie out of the bottle.
